New Witt Principal

Lisa Templin, former Hamblen County Teacher of the Year and one of the district’s Learning Leaders, has been named principal of Witt Elementary School. She replaces retiring principal, Paula Combs.

 Administrative designee and fourth grade teacher at Witt Elementary, Templin also has taught second grade.

  “I am excited and honored to serve as the new principal of Witt Elementary School.  I am anxiously anticipating the start of the new school year as I step into my new role.”

 “Templin with her talent and experience, is the perfect choice for principal at Witt Elementary,” said interim director Hugh Clement. “We are excited as she begins her new position and predict she will take the already successful school to new heights.”

 She served on Witt’s Data Analysis Team, a member of the School Improvement Committee, was Junior Beta Club advisor, Scholar Bowl Coach, and American Education Week coordinator.

 She began her career in Hamblen County as a third and fifth grade teacher at Lincoln Heights Elementary School and worked with the English Language Learner Summer Enrichment Program.  Before joining the HCDOE, she taught grades 3-6 at Algood School, a community school in Putnam County.

 

Templin holds an educational specialist degree in Instructional Leadership, a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision, and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Tech University.

 

On the state level, Templin has served the Department of Education for several years on the Social Studies and English/Language Arts TCAP Review Committees. She also has served on the district Social Studies textbook review team.

 She has served as a supervisor of student teachers and educational practicum students from various colleges.

 Templin is a former member of the Southern Association of College and Schools Committee and has presented at best practices sessions. She also coordinated the Reading is Fundamental program for Algood School.

 Templin lives in the Russellville community where she enjoys spending time at home with her husband, Dan.  When school is not in session, Templin can be found traveling or spending time with family and friends.
